Bob E. Whitley

Bob Whitley has North Carolina in his blood. Ultimately that’s why he came to represent the hard-working folks he labored with in tobacco fields and saw along his paper route. “I just wanted to be a lawyer, and I have an affinity for eastern North Carolina,” says Bob, who started his career in criminal and domestic law and is now eligible to practice for the Supreme Court of the United States.

“I learned that I wanted to be more involved with people, so personal injury was natural.” One of his most memorable and high-dollar recoveries was a creative case he painstakingly prepared for a local factory worker who was seriously injured in a tractor-trailer accident. After 40 years in PI, with a concentration in catastrophic injury and wrongful death, Bob knows everyone deals differently with trauma.

“An unexpected death is one of the most emotional, riveting experiences a family can have, especially when it’s the result of someone else’s poor decision,” he says.

“I appreciate the uniqueness of every client. Everyone reacts differently, and there’s no right or wrong.” This special understanding is often why clients choose to work with Whitley Law Firm. “Being a family firm, we have those family-type relationships. It doesn’t mean you become the best friend of every client, but you have to be sensitive to things outside a personal injury claim,” Bob says.

“There are a million lawyers who know the law, but our advantage is the service we give. We want clients know we tried as hard as we could and treated them respectfully. When it’s all over, we want them to be glad they chose us, and to not just be a mild fan, but a raving fan, of the firm.”

About AV Rating

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings system evaluates an attorney’s legal abilities and professional ethics, and reflects the confidential opinions of members of the bar and judiciary. Achieving an AV rating certification mark is a significant accomplishment, as it shows how other attorneys and members of the legal community view the attorney’s skills and professionalism. The AV rating is the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. Bob Whitley has carried this distinction for over 20 years.
