Whitney J. Powers

Whitney-Butcher-2015-new[2]

What is one of the best things about working at Whitley Law Firm? The opportunity to truly help clients, says Associate Whitney Powers. “My desire to help people was a major reason I went to law school, so that’s ultimately what drew me to personal injury,” says Whitney, who works primarily in the firm’s dangerous drug and defective medical device practice area, but also assists with general personal injury and auto accident cases. One example was helping a client who suffered catastrophic injuries get the help he needed. “Before the accident, he loved to play basketball. However, the insurance company refused to pay for a sports wheelchair,” explains Whitney, whose commitment to the case ultimately helped convince the insurance company to provide the sports wheelchair. “It was a very real example of how what we do helps people and ensures that their quality of life is as high as possible, even after a devastating accident.” In another instance, Whitney helped represent a client who had a faulty orthopedic device that required an invasive revision surgery. “We are able to obtain a good resolution for that client, by representing his best interests and making sure all of his injuries and damages were accounted for.”

Whitney’s approach to personal injury law is based on being honest and forthright. “My job is to be an advocate for our clients and make sure their rights and interests are being well-represented. We also make sure clients understand their options and have all of the information so that they can make the decision that best represents those interests,” she says. When the phone rings at Whitley Law Firm, Whitney knows that it’s very likely something very bad has happened. She’s most proud of her team’s dedication during such critical moments. “We are interacting with clients at a time in life when they need the utmost support. Our firm goes to great lengths to understand our clients’ perspectives and do all that we can to fight for them at a time of real devastation.”
