Matthew Bissette is the head of the Workers’ Compensation Department at Whitley Law Firm, where he brings a compassionate, client-centered approach to every case. Whether litigating complex claims or guiding clients through accepted cases, Matthew is committed to ensuring injured workers receive the benefits and support they deserve.
Inspired by his father, a general practitioner physician, Matthew was drawn to the legal profession by the shared goal of helping people every day. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina, receiving a double major in Political Science and Economics. He then attended Campbell University School of Law, where he was actively involved in the Innocence Project and the Bankruptcy Clinic, and earned the highest grade in his class in Insurance Law.
Matthew gained valuable judicial experience clerking for Judge Mark A. Davis at the North Carolina Court of Appeals and Judge David M. Warren at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Upon graduating, he joined Whitley Law Firm, where he developed a broad litigation background in product liability, mass torts, motor vehicle accidents, and slip-and-fall cases, with experience in both Superior and District Courts.
Today, Matthew focuses exclusively on Workers’ Compensation, combining legal expertise with a deep commitment to helping injured individuals navigate one of the most challenging times in their lives.
