Description:
In December of 2018, a motorcyclist traveling on State Road 11-1101 crashed into a tow truck that suddenly pulled in front of him. The force of the collision caused the plaintiff to be thrown from his bike, causing very serious orthopedic injuries.
From these injuries, the plaintiff had to undergo multiple surgeries as well as significant rehabilitation to mitigate their severity. Furthermore, the motorcyclist now has trouble walking and cannot continue working at his previous job.
In discussion with the tow truck driver’s commercial liability insurance company, our attorneys were able to secure the full limit of the defendant’s insurance policy of $1 Million. After the settlement, the plaintiff’s healthcare provider filed a medical lien against the settlement proceeds, requesting $7 million for medical expenses. However, after negotiations with the provider, that amount was reduced to $245,000.
