Whitley Law Firm Donates $3,000 to Coats for the Children

The holiday season is a time for giving back. This year, Whitley Law Firm wanted to celebrate the reason for the season by supporting one of North Carolina’s most noble causes, Coats for the Children. Ben Whitley went out to visit the anchors with WRAL & Fox 50 to offer a generous donation of $3,000 to support in-need families.

This donation came in the midst of the Coats for the Children telethon held in partnership with the Salvation Army. The telethon strove to help break previous donation records, with the goal of generating more than $156,000 in support for this year’s Coats for the Children drive.

Whitley Law Firm cares so much about its community that it has integrated outreach and service into its foundational goals. The firm’s Coats for the Children donation of $3,000 is one of many it has made toward this and similar causes over the years. In an interview with WRAL & Fox 50 during the Coats for the Children telethon, Ben Whitley promised more support to come.

Whitley Law Firm was one of several corporate partners that helped WRAL & Fox 50 bring this year’s Coats for the Children donations to even greater heights. Other partners that donated this season include:

  • Jiffy Lube Multicare
  • Bailey’s Fine Jewelry
  • Blanton’s Air, Plumbing, and Electric
  • Chiesi
  • Forever Clean

The Generosity of the Holiday Season

As of December 15th, vendors, families, and generous community members had donated a total of $129,328 toward this year’s Coats for the Children cause. Donations formally concluded on December 31st, but the Salvation Army’s Coats for the Children site remains open.

Anyone interested in purchasing a coat, gloves, scarf, or other cold-weather gear for in-need families can still reach out.

About Coats for the Children

WRAL runs its Coats for the Children telethon and donation collection community service campaign every year. Since the inception of the campaign in 1989, WRAL-TV and many generous donors have helped purchase over 176,650 coats for in-need families. These efforts have also generated $2 million in financial support for the Salvation Army.

These efforts benefit thousands of families, ensuring that no one in need goes cold throughout the bitter months of winter.
