Stryker Hip Implants Claims

What options do you have when something that you need to function on a regular basis is causing you personal injury, pain, and suffering? If you had a Stryker Rejuvenate or Stryker ABG II Modular-Neck Stem medical device installed in your body between 2009 and 2012, you may be entitled to financial compensation! Our firm is leading the case against Stryker and representing clients who have suffered injuries as a result of these hip implants.

What Should I Know About This Recall?

Stryker recalled and ceased manufacturing of two artificial hip implant systems on July 6, 2012. Two months prior to this, the company issued a notice that identified some common health hazards that had been associated with the Stryker Rejuvenate and the Stryker ABG II Modular-Neck Stem.

The hip implants may begin corroding and fretting, allowing small shards of metal to enter a person’s tissues, bones, and bloodstream.

Medical complications associated with the implants are:

  • Pain and swelling
  • Bone dissolution
  • Bone loss
  • Loosening of the joint
  • Tissue inflammation
  • Tissue death
  • Metal poisoning
  • Allergic reaction for those with metal sensitivity
  • Neurological and heart problems

The medical problems are a result of the hip implant’s manufacture. They are made with chromium and cobalt that has been coated in titanium. With use, these metals rub against one another and shed metallic debris into the body. This, in turn, results in medical complications.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had received a number of complaints concerning the implants but the company voluntarily issued a recall. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the company has issued a large-scale recall of their medical devices.

If you or a loved one have received a hip implant surgery since 2009, check your medical records. If either the Stryker Rejuvenate or the Stryker ABG II Modular-Neck Stem were used in your body, don’t wait to call a Raleigh defective medical devices lawyer with Whitley Law Firm. You deserve compensation for the medical complications that have been linked to these devices and our firm can help.
